Rabbit-Proof Fence

Lyndsay and I just watched the movie “Rabbit-Proof Fence.” It’s about three aboriginal girls who are stripped from their mother as a part of an Australian government project to domesticate and culturalize the aborigine people. This happened in the 1930s. The program lasted until the 1970s. I suddenly realized to myself: “what?!”

Speaking of things lasting to the 70s, use google to do a bit of research on the eugenic sterilization of Native Americans.

That was, for me, a moment when I suddenly realized a lot.

Great movie. Frightening history.

I saw this movie on one of my interviewing trips a few years back. I had an interview after I watched it and realized in the middle of the interview I was thinking more about the movie than the person sitting across from me. My reaction was similar to yours.
