Vacation: That Desert Is So Hot Right Now
The second installment of the Grand Piña Vacation of 2006.
So after leaving the Palm Desert Hot Springs Canyon area, we headed off to the “real” desert (not that fake California desert with nice landscaping and good water). Lyndsay and I headed to Tucson, Arizona to visit our friends Travis and Shauna Mundy. Travis was the best man in my wedding. Then I was the best man in his wedding. Then we decided not to see each other for a year.
Lyndsay noted that until we hit Arizona there were no cacti. But once beyond the border, they were everywhere. We pulled over to see if Arizona felt different from California. Pretty much the same. So Lyndsay danced in the dry desert heat, and then realized she had a terrible sunburn.
Upon arriving to Tucson, we noticed, as Travis had earlier pointed out, that the entire city is under construction. We arrived to the Mundy’s new home, then discussed the fact that he belongs to a home owner’s association which delivers him various written notices regarding the inappropriate size of his weeds (over 3 inches). Not long after our arrival Lyndsay decided she wanted to walk through some real Arizonan desert which, conveniently, was located right around the corner from Travis’ home.
Next: Cacti and Mexican Wrestlers.
