Sometimes I think my body hurts itself just so I have a reason to go see Dr. Gonzales. He’s a good man. He’s the only doctor I’ve ever been to who’s spent half the visit talking with me about faith.

Highlights from today’s visit to the Oakhurst Kaiser Clinic:

• I happened to make an appointment for the very first day of Kaiser’s new computer system. Yay!
• I learned that Dr. Gonzales recently viewed, and enjoyed, the brand new Pixar flim “Cars.”
• My medication will, and I quote, “Liquify mucus.”
• While waiting for them to run my credit card, a kind-hearted Kaiser volunteer asked me to fill out a survey about today’s visit. I was rewarded with a miniature flashlight.
