Superted
Our friend Luke was over the other night. He brought his friend, Gemma, from Cambridge, England. Gemma had never heard of YouTube, so, like the good Internet-citizens we are, we introduced her. Bryan asked what she would like to search for (because you can find almost anything), to which Gemma answered: “Superted.” We found this video:
And while I watched the 45 second intro to the UK cartoon, “Superted,” I was suddenly filled with those kinds of memories that aren’t really memories. The ones where you feel like you’re supposed to remember something, but don’t. I felt like I had once lived in the world of Superted and the Spotty man. It was so strange that I had to call my dad to see if he remembered (not really). I even asked my sister, who agreed that the teddy bear turning into a superhero sounded vaugely familiar, but not so much that yellow man with polka dots and a strange mohawk.
And so I have nothing to point to. No stuffed animals. No videos. Only the possibility that I may have watched the Hanna-Barbera remake: “The Further Adventures Of Superted.” And so I vow to never rest until I discover where Superted fits into my past.
Or at least until I get tired of looking.
I remember my older sister talking about this. I want to find Banana Man cartoons.
