Environmentally Friendly Weapons

Arms manufacturer BAE Systems is developing technology to produce more earth-friendly munitions.

“Weapons are going to be used and when they are, we try to make them as safe for the user as possible, to limit the collateral damage and to impact as little as possible on the environment.”

If by “impacting the environment as little as possible” we mean “killing all the humans, but protecting the dirt and air,” then yes, I think I understand. Link.

In home defense at least the technical term is “stopping” rather than killing. For instance, gun owners are taught to say, “I kept firing until he stopped (pointing the gun at me, charging at me with the knife, etc.)” rather than, “I kept shooting until he was dead.”

The military has other language I think. Lets see. I’ve heard, put down a target, drop a target… I think there is a more common phrase but I can’t think of it. In more candid moments, I’ve heard military personnel explicitly say, “Our job is to kill people and break their stuff.”

Funny how Public Relations changes things.
