What Are You Doing Here?

I was at Beyer High School this morning to see some students. As Cameron and I sat outside, a teacher walked up to me, and said: “You look to old to be going here.” That, in itself, was a nice change, but now I was afraid I was in trouble for something. I showed her my visitor badge, and she asked me where I was from.

“Trinity United Presbyterian on Carver.” She knew where it was. She asked me if I was here for student counseling.

“Just here to hang out with this guy.” I pointed to Cameron (who doesn’t really need counseling - yet). She asked me if I “do this type of thing.” By which she meant hang out with students, counseling, etc.

“Sure.” (I suppose.) She asked me for my card (I got them yesterday), and said that she had a lot of students who needed something like that, and asked if she could give me a call. She doesn’t see many people on campus like me.

When at first I thought someone was mad I was there, it turned out she was glad that I was doing what I was doing (talking?). Stay tuned for other random events as evidence of my life suddenly being completely different.

way to get those cards the day before this encounter. I look forward to more events like this. We should talk soon.

That was funny. And what do you mean “yet”? Do you expect me to need it soon?

Glad to hear that a new door has been opened, I look forward to seeing where it goes.

I wonder who the teacher is… because there are a couple Christian teachers on campus who’d love to know you’re doing what you’re doing!
