Comic: Creationists Challenge Water’s Freezing Point

It’s ironic that a cartoon that uses water to make its point is so shallow on substance. Presumably the point is that the creationist opposition to the theory of evolution is analogous to questioning the fact that water freezes at 32 degrees F. Of course, the analogy immediately breaks down, for water freezing at 32 degrees is very easily testable/demonstrable in a way that undirected large-scale evolution is not. In other words, for the analogy to fit, the cartoonist has to assume that undirected large-scale evolution is testable in the same way that “32-degree theory” is, but this is what the creationist is disputing. In short, the cartoonist begs the question. He does score some rhetorical points, but substance is lacking.

In the interests of continuing the trend of over-analyzing instead of chuckling at a cartoon:
Water doesn’t always freeze at 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
(That’s all.)
