Banana In The Face = Ministry

I stumbled upon this activity on a Youth Ministry website:

Pick two unsuspecting teenagers (the younger, the better!). Cut the legs off the hosiery. Use the two legs to place over the heads of the two contestants challenge them to chew up a banana in their mouths as gushy as possible. Then place the legs of the pantyhose completely over their heads. Hand them a cup and tell them that they have to push the banana from their mouths through the pantyhose into the cup they are holding. Of course, none will go through. For fun, pull the top of the legs as they are pushing to smear it all over their faces. It is one of the funniest pranks we have ever played. We use it every year to initiate our newest members!

Ha! Awesome! Wait… Is it just me, or is this like the worst possible thing you could do to a new young student? If I ever did this, it would be to the “cool” guy who could use a little embarrassment. But I just can’t see this as being a good thing for showing students that Jesus cares about you (”Welcome to Youth Group, kid! Take that!”).

UPDATE: Now, “Musical Onion” … I can see that working out.

Hazing is hazing. It’s illegal in colleges, but thank God the churches still do it!

Thats so right on Cory. Sometimes I don’t understand what leaders were thinking in playing games like that.
