PiñaBlog Bits and Pieces of Piña

It’s 10:15

…and Steve Jobs just introduced the MacBook Air.
My primary objective right now is to remember that there will always be something better than I currently have. And that is ok.

UPDATE: Dear Sweet Love of God, it is so small.

I think that I would break it the first day. Too thin.

After watching the video for it, I almost peed my pants when he talked about using “Remote Disc” which is a program that lets you access another computer’s CD/DVD drive from your Macbook Air. What will they think of next???

Wow. I’m actually planning to upgrade my powerbook (G4 867) to a macbook pro next friday. If the screen were larger I’d seriously consider that guy.

Even besides the screen, it might be a little too lean for you James. You strike me as someone who will need the power.

Travis. I have decided what they will think of next.
The MacBook Vapor. Not only will it be even lighter and thinner than the MacBook Air, but it will actually be composed of gas molecules.

You know, I’ve had my powerbook for 5 1/2 years and this is the first time I really haven’t been able to do what I’d like to with it. In 5 1/2 years of developments, that’s really a testament to their stuff. But right now I can’t run Leopard, and I can’t use the current Dreamweaver with the system I’m using now. The hardest-hitting thing I can honestly see myself using on the new computer will be Logic Express. I’m going to replace the battery for this guy and give it to my mom.

Then by all means - experiment for us. :)

I’m torn about it. It is wicked cool - slim, the touchpad is clever… but it seems a little ahead of its time. How many people have multiple computers to transmit from a cd? Or constant wireless access? And the hard drive…64 GB?

However, the technology for the non-moving hard drive is innovative, and where memory will be in the next couple years (I have an engineering friend who says that electrons are now considered “moving parts” and are also “too big” for some of the cutting edge computer technology… and that photons will move across fixed electrons as current in the future… i.e. massless particles as controlled energy…)

All this to say that every year Apple impresses. And they have good marketing.

I always like the music they put with their ads. It’s my favorite.
