Believe It

I’ve been thinking about writing a short book or article along the lines of Ten Things You Don’t Have to Believe to Be a Christian.

Somewhere on the list would be the Left Behind series.

Any other ideas?

I have a few, but I don’t know if they would fit with the humorosity of this blog.

I’ll leave one that isn’t funny: The earth is 6,000 years old.

Aye, I know of a couple very non-humourous ones:
1. God loves everyone exactly the same.
2 _Everyone_ has the chance to go to heaven.

As far as slightly more humorous:
1. You don’t have to believe Televangelists are the greatest God-send since sliced bread.
2. You don’t have to believe that Jesus was caucasian.
3. It is _not_ necessary to say “Amen! Hallelujah! Praise Jesus!” after every sentence in a sermon.
4. You don’t have to hate Muslims/those of the Islamic faith.
5. You don’t have to retreat into a cave in the woods, wear brown robes, pray 22 hours a day, take vows of celibacy, and never talk to anyone but God to be a Christian.

You don’t have to feel heretical that you think Bono is the best Evangelist we have today.

You might have to feel heretical if you think Joel Olsteen is…
